My kids had a blast regardless of the weather and asked to stay here one more day! The pool at this hotel is a huge indoor water park with wave pool and fun slides. There’s nothing much to do around the lake on rainy days, so I recommend staying at a place with good indoor facilities. The hotel is one of only few hotels around the lake with indoor swimming pool. It is probably the best hotel for families in Lake Toya. This is our second time staying at Toya Sun Palace Resort & Spawith kids. They have a great restaurant upstairs with the view of the lake, and their cute kids set comes with a small toy. We arrived in Lake Toya around 1pm and stopped by Wakasaimo Toyako Honten for lunch. It’s only 1.5 hours drive between these lakes, and the stunning Lake Shikotsu is also worth visiting while in Hokkaido. It takes about 2 hours from Sapporo by car, and the fastest route would be taking the highway till Date city.Īlternatively, you can include Lake Shikotsu in your itinerary before driving down to Lake Toya. Lake Toya is the third biggest caldera lake in Japan, after Lake Kussharo and Lake Shikotsu (all located in Hokkaido). As the saying goes, the more the merrier! We loved everything about our trip as a family of five. This time, we came back to the lake for the first time with all my children (6, 4, and 21 months).
